Dedicated in the memory of (Late) Maj. Bachan Singh
Rawat
Older people do not get the attention, time care even
by the children they have raised with so much love and
sacrifice. The emerging trend in the big cities of
India is to send them off to an old age homhe with some
monthly expenditure. But the conditions in the
villages are appauling. |
As they are of no real help
like the household chores, financial help or even
being able to take care of themselves. At this time in
life when the debt has to be paid back by their
children, they are rather ignored in their own home
and treated like a liability with no attention, love
and medical facilities.In India and especially in the
villages, women are not treated with the kind of
dignity and respect that they deserve. They cannot
also avail basic necessities like food, education,
medical facilities, hygiene, etc. |

The founder of this women shelter, Mrs. Tulsi Rawat,
being a native understood the hardships faced by the
women of the Himalayan
Mountains in Uttranchal. These women have been shunned
by the society for various reasons being – old age,
widower, orphans, etc. Her continuous endeavor has
bore fruit when she was able to purchase land and
initiate construction for women’s shelter in
Uttranchal. The focus is to provide the women a safe
shelter, care, medical attention, and a supportive
environment to enable them to recover and to take
responsibility for their lives again.

Facilities that will be provided in the women shelter:
- Provide vocational training to women to become
self reliant and confident.
- Free accommodation.
- Free food.
- Education to women and their children.
- Have a guesthouse run by the women of our
women shelter.
- Raise a girl child, provide her with good
education, some vocational training and then find her
a suitable match to be part of a loving family.
- Expand shelter to be able to accommodate
more people.
- Open schools for the villages, teachers
being from our shelter home.
Our aim is to make the women shelter self reliant in a
few years time and the vision is reaching its
culmination stage. Your help, advice and best wishes
are required at this stage to make this noble cause a
success.

We have Constructed a Women Shelter for 12 Women. Our
Women Shelter has being inaugurated on the 16th Nov
2006 by the President, District Panchayat Committee of
Chamoli District, Uttranchal.
